Hi,

I have just purchased List Manager for my Orange C600 Smartphone.

First of all, I do like the software!

One issue I'd like to check though is where the application is installed to. When offered the choice of Device Storage or Storage Card I chose the Storage Card. However List Manager seems to have been installed in the phone memory anyway.

Is it possible to move the contents of the folder to the Storage Card? As long as I change the Start Menu shortcut, will it work OK?

The reason for asking is that device storage memory under Windows Mobile 5 is always at a premium and fills up so fast. I like to install as much as I can to the storage card.

Jason.

Thats a good question... We have not tried it, but it should work. We will do a bit of testing on our side and get back to you with the answer.

Thanks for the reply. I decided to have a go myself. I just copied over the whole 'Unwired' folder from the 'Program Files' folder in the phone storage to the same folder on my storage card.

The app starts up fine, and a quick browse around the options didn't turn up a problem. Tried a sync with my desktop and that also worked fine.

If I do discover any issues in future I'll report them back here.

If anyone decides to go ahead and do the same, remember to update the start menu shortcut as that will still be pointing to the application in your phone memory. Also update the 'UnwiredSmsInterceptor' shortcut in your 'Windows\StartUp' folder, otherwise it won't work when you next reboot. I haven't tested the SMS feature in List Manager to see if it works from the storage card, but I can't see myself making use of it anyway.

Thanks for giving this a go!

We'll be looking into why it did not install onto the storage card in the first place.

No problem!

I'm sure I did select storage card when I originally installed, but you never know, maybe I accidentally jogged the joystick and changed the option back accidentally before pressing the key to continue.

I really do wish the C600 came with at least an extra 32MB of storage built in. I installed the imate SP5 ROM a while back as it has less junk in it than the Orange ROM, but even with that you start out with only 14MB of phone storage. It's amazing how fast that disappears even when you select the storage card for all your installs. Sometimes I have no idea what takes up the space. A couple of MB can disappear and when you try and find what files have been added there doesn't appear to be anything new. The big problem is when you try to install a file that is larger than normal through ActivSync, it fails because even if you install to the storage card, the phone storage gets used during the install. If there isn't enough it fails and generally you find that the failed install has left you with even less phone storage than before, with no sign of where those duff files are hiding. Seems to be a WM5 issue as I never had the problem with my old C550 (WM2003SE).

Anyway, rant over

Jason.
